Designed specifically for polar exploration, the M/V Ortelius is a modern, comfortable, safe, ice-strengthened vessel. She can comfortably accommodate up to 100 passengers although we will carry a maximum of just 89 passengers on voyages.  Ortelius passengers tend to be Adventurous 45-65 and singles and International. When all cabins have double occupancy, the ship provides a space ratio of 51.6 tons per passenger and a crew to passenger ratio of one for every 1.5 passengers. At full capacity the space ratio is 46 tons per passenger and the crew ratio is one to 1.7 passengers.

Wheelchair access is unsuitable. The ship has no special provisions for severely handicapped persons. Doors are heavy and not too wide. Outside doors have sills. Metal decks can be slippery and icy.  Hoists are not provided and passengers will need to bring their own.
